Aubrey, like all gnomes, enjoyed a simple life. He enjoyed
his quiet home beneath the tree. He enjoyed a hard day’s labor. He enjoyed his
tea piping hot. In truth, the only remarkable thing about Aubrey was that he
enjoyed taking walks in the cool of the evening. Due to the dangers inherent in
the darkness, gnomes made it a rule never to venture out at night. Even from a young age, gnomelings were taught to fear the dark. Yet, it was on
one of these walks, when the fireflies danced, twinkling in the twilight that Aubrey
saw something peculiar. This is the story of what he saw…
